Sakzi Leads 2020 Candidates by 21 Points, Followed by Blackwater, Bishop, and Gunn

Speaker Foley Sakzi (BCP) is hanging on to the top spot in the 2020 primary field, leading his nearest rival, Leader Cain Blackwater (GLP) by 21 points, according to a Tofino Times poll released Wednesday.

Sakzi notched 53 percent support among likely conservative primary voters in the poll, while President Bishop finished in second place with 17 percent. In first for liberals was Cain Blackwater, who took 32 percent support in the survey.

Rounding out the four candidates was Sen. Euan Gunn with 11 percent. The poll is the latest showing some shuffling in the voting field.

Blackwater has held the second-place spot behind Sakzi in most public surveys for weeks, but some recent polls have shown Gunn nudging past him.

The poll surveyed 1,500 people, including 1,140 registered voters, in web-based interviews from July 7-9. It has a margin of error of 2.6 percent for the entire sample and 3 percent for registered voters.

The polling data spells further dismay for President Anya Bishop, who has steadily declined in approval rating and her re-election polling numbers since Speaker Sakzi announced his candidacy and called out differences with the President, who is a member of his party.
